How to Onboard

Say you've come across a compliance guard set up via Keyring restricting access to what you want to do. To proceed, you'll need to prove that you comply. You can onboard yourself in a few quick steps, and get immediate access. Start by going to the Keyring App.

1️⃣ Connect your wallet

The wallet you use for onboarding will be considered your Master Wallet, acting as a log-in mechanism.

Don't lose access to this wallet, you’ll need it to access or edit your identity information in the future.

Supported wallets include MetaMask and WalletConnect. If you require support for a different wallet, please get in touch.

2️⃣ Select the Admission Policy you want to onboard for

Select your by choosing it in the wrapper menu. For example, to onboard under the Backed Admission Policy, click change and then select the Policy ID: 3.

3️⃣ Onboard and obtain your Credentials

The widget on the bottom right-hand side corner will indicate your .

3️⃣.1️⃣. Onboarding options

  1. You are already onboarded with a Keyring Partner. Select the Option Onboarded with Partner. You will be taken directly to the next step.

  2. You aren't onboarded yet. Select Start Onboarding. You will be guided through a KYC questionnaire to provide the required information and documents.

Onboarding is usually near-instant for individuals but can take up to 2 business days. For businesses, it can take up to 5 business days. Once the review is completed, users will be notified on the Keyring platform or via email if they choose to.

3️⃣.2️⃣. Credentials generation

Following onboarding, you’ll be automatically taken to the Credentials page to generate your zero-knowledge proof. It attests to the fact that you comply with the selected Admission Policy, whilst preventing any PII linkage to your on-chain footprint.

If you’re looking to prove your wallet is part of a Partner's whitelist, only wallets on that whitelist can request credentials.

Firstly, you’ll be able to assign multiple Trading Wallets to your zero-knowledge proofs, if you want to create Credentials for for multiple wallets.

Your ZK-proofs will be generated in your browser.

You will then be able to switch between the Trading Wallets you listed in the previous step and generate Credentials, which are the on-chain representation of your zero-knowledge proofs.

Once your Credentials are ready, you’ll be allowed to interact with guarded smart contracts for the duration set by the Policy Owner.

This duration changes between policies and typically ranges from 1 day to 3 years.

3️⃣.3️⃣. Credentials refresh

When your Credentials expire, please go back to the Keyring platform and select the option “Refresh Credentials” in the Widget menu.

You won’t have to onboard again, all checks will be conducted in the background. Provided the information gathered is still valid under the Admission Policy, you’ll be able to replicate step 3️⃣.2️⃣ directly.

Credentials can be used in many forms. In the Keyring App, you will be able to see all the Policies you can onboard for and which use cases they give access to.

Onboarding Tips

  • Ensure you've securely stored the login details for your Master Wallet.

  • Make sure the dates input are correct.

  • Review information carefully as you won't be able to edit it once your browser refreshes.

  • Should you need any help, use the "Contact Us" button in the bottom right-hand side corner.
